Heraeus Sensor Technology Ltda, Brazil Management Buyout Announcement

On March 16, 2011, the local management of Heraeus Sensor Technology Ltda in Brazil signed
an agreement with Heraeus Electro‐Nite International NV for a management buy‐out of the
Ceramic Wire Wound PRTD business.

The new company, Sensor Technology Ltda., with new shareholders, will continue the
manufacturing and sales of Ceramic Wire Wound temperature detectors, a business in which it
is the global market leader. The company will also continue as a distributor in Latin America for
the Heraeus Sensor Technology GmbH line of Thin Film RTDs manufactured in Germany.

For the Heraeus companies that currently serve as distributors or sales offices for Heraeus
Sensor Technology Ltda., no changes will be made. In addition, Sensor Technology Ltda. will
continue to maintain a strong relationship with Heraeus.

Sensor Technology Ltda products are supplied to customers in over 30 different countries
across many industries and sectors, including chemical, petrochemical, automation, process
industry and special temperature applications. The management team of Sensor Technology
Ltda plans to build upon more than 20 years of success and maximize growth in existing
businesses, and also expand into new business areas.

The new shareholders are delighted to have completed the transaction. Sensor Technology Ltda
will continue to focus on meeting our customer’s high expectations for ceramic wirewound
PRTD elements.
